As multinational organizations expand across jurisdictions, managing indirect taxes within Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems has become increasingly complex. Many enterprises rely on specialized third-party tax engines to handle real-time tax calculations, regulatory updates, and multi-country compliance requirements. However, integrating these external engines with large ERP environments can create unintended system behavior, particularly when tax rules configured for one accounting process affect unrelated financial workflows. This paper presents an automation framework developed within Oracle E-Business Tax (EBTax) to address a critical integration issue involving the unintended application of third-party tax rates within the Accounts Payable (AP) process. The solution uses database-level event triggers and Oracle private APIs to automatically identify and exclude selected tax engines from specific payable transactions without disrupting broader tax operations. The implementation reduced manual configuration effort by approximately 95%, eliminated repetitive data-correction cycles, and improved the reliability of global Value-Added Tax (VAT) reporting and recovery processes. The study demonstrates how targeted ERP automation can strengthen tax governance while supporting scalable global compliance operations.
