In this paper, the energy consumption issue of a cellular Base Transceiver Station (BTS) is addressed and a hybrid energy system is proposed for a typical BTS. Hybrid Optimization Model for Electric Renewable (HOMER Pro 3. 1. 2. 0) is used to analyze different energy options and simulation results show that considering hybrid energy solution comprising of renewable and non-renewable energy solutions can lower the cost and accompanying CO2 emissions.
